Weekend Recap

James and I left on Friday afternoon to spend a relaxing weekend with his mom and Bob at their house at Dale Hollow Lake. We had a nice quiet dinner on Friday, spend Saturday on the boat relaxing and left early Sunday morning. We left early because his mom headed to Lexington to see the new grandbaby (see previous post). Since then I have been feeling a little flu like, very achy muscles and maybe a fever. I think the fever is gone (maybe it was never there) but the muscles are still achy. Not sure what is causing the aches - workouts? jets on the jacuzzi? bad bed? Just hoping tylenol and muscle relaxers will make it go away!

Hope everyone had a good weekend!

I'm an Aunt

James' sister had her baby on Saturday afternoon. Welcome Austin!

Kerri and Misty won GOLD!!

And I stayed up to watch, so I was a bad girl and did not go to the gym this morning. (James did!) But with my flexible at home work schedule, I am sure I will get my run in before the end of the day (why wake up that early when I have the whole day and I enjoy getting out of the house for a bit!)

Olympics - What we're watching tonight

Tonight is the final in Women's Beach Volleyball. James and I have been watching the beach volleyball pretty consisitently. We look forward to watching Misty and Kerry take home the gold!!

** I do have a bunko night tonight with the girls in the neighborhood...I may have to sneak out a bit early or make sure they have it on!!

Olympics Gymnastics

We are totally into the Olympics and haven't really been watching anything else. As some of you may or may not know, I am not a night owl. In fact, neither of us are really since we've been getting up between 5:30 and 6:00 AM to workout. So we've bee DVRing (is that really a verb) the primetime coverage. We are so far behind in watching we have had to delete some nights in order to tape the current night. Well last night was the first night we stayed up late - 11:30 - to watch the balance beam finals! Shawn Johnson finally got a gold. She was so emotional and had a huge smile on her face! Congratulations!

Sister

Not sure if I mentioned I had a younger sister....She is 3 years younger and just recently moved to SC for a teaching job. She teaches 8th grade math. Evidently at the school where she is teaching, the separate the boys and girls for the main courses. Lucky E gets BOYS all day long. I can't wait to hear the wonderful stories!

Good Luck on your first day of school!!

E was here this weekend, well actually travelling through here. (We're living up to the Blog Title) She arrived late Thursday night then flew from ATL to Destin, FL for a wedding on Friday morning. She returned to ATL Saturday afternoon and spent the next 24 hours at our house. I sent her on her way Sunday afternoon with fresh laundry, plates and glasses, a shower curtain, counter top grill and other things for her new apartment. It was nice seeing her and hopefully we'll see more of here since she is only 4.5 hours away (much closer than the 8.5 to our hometown!)

IPOD, Mom, Random

I believe the IPODs are ordered...I decided on the black. I saw the pink in person and it is definitely not as cute as it is in the picture. We ordered them online, so mine will be coming with JMF engraved on the back

Speaking of my monogram, I am not sure if I mentioned the similarities I share with my mom, other than the obvious DNA:

We are 20 years apart
Graduated HS 20 years apart
Mom went from an F last name to M last name
I went from M last name to F last name
....just to name a few.

I am anxious to get the IPODs in so I can get some good workout music on it. Do you have any favorite workout songs? I have a couple that get me moving - Bon Jovi, Red Hot Chili Peppers, almost any Rap....I like to listen to a bit slower music on lifting days..Norah Jones, U2, etc. Comment if you have some favorite songs, then I will download and add them to my play list.

My running has gotten better. I am running for longer periods and faster. Saturday's run was 40 minutes total -

2 min walking warm up
15 min between 5.6 - 6.0
3 min walk
20 min run, 7 mins 5.8, 13 mins 6.1

I have always wanted to do a mini marathon (13 miles) but each year I got injured in training. Hopefully I keep this up and try one in the spring. I am sure there will be one in Atlanta somewhere.
Sorry for the random train of thought....

IPOD

So, we've managed to make it 4 weeks of working out at least 4 days a week, so now its time to buy ipods. Yes, we have made it this long without owning ipods (James does have a shuffle that he bought last year before the wedding, but with its limited functionality, lets not call it an ipod). So, we're looking at the ipod nano. I originally said I would get the smaller model (4GB) because I didn't need all the space. But I didn't know that it only came in the silver color...so now I want the 8GB, but can't decide on the color....what do you all think? I am thinking the new pink color, but also like the red and the fact that its a (product) red and part will be donated.

Also, you can now get them monogrammed for free...how cool is that?!!?!

Weekend

James and I had a great weekend. Friday we went to Canoe for date night. The food was great and the setting was beautiful. It is located on the banks of the Chattahoochee River and there was a beautiful garden area outside the restaurant. We started watching Batman Begins, but I didn't make it past the first 30 minutes. Saturday morning we went to work out (yes, that is 4 weeks and the ipod purchase is being planned) and then hung out at the house. James took a nap and I watched the end of Batman Begins. After a fun trip to the grocery store, we went to dinner and a movie. That's right - 2 date nights in 1 weekend. We saw The Dark Knight. It was a great movie. Heath Ledger's performance was fantastic. I think Christian Bale makes a wonderful Batman! I did wonder though why Katie Holmes did not continue the role of Rachel, though Maggie Gyllenhaal did a good job with the role. Sunday we went to church and out for brunch here. The food was wonderful and it was nice to be out in the Highlands. Once we got home, Sunday was a quiet afternoon of Olympic watching.

The weekend was very relaxing and was definitely what James and I needed. I hope everyone else had a wonderful weekend.

Back home

I made it back home last night. I had a great time in Lexington hanging out with some of my girlfriends. I have really missed them and we have not had the opportunity to hang out for probably 6 months.
It was also nice to be in the office for a little bit. While working at home is flexible, its nice to have the people interaction. While I was in the office my work computer DIED...they are replacing the motherboard and fixing some system issues. It should be complete and overnighted to me today.
Just got back from a walk and now have to catch up on laundry and other house work - what fun for a Friday afternoon!

James and I are going on another date night tonight! Should be fun.

Lexington

I made it to Lexington last night. I am here for 3 days for a bit of work. Last night I had dinner with 2 friends from work and got to meet one of their little ones, oh so cute! Tonight I get to hang out with my college girlfriends, should be fun, too! Hope everyone is having a good week. Its hot and muggy here. I was hoping for it to be a bit cooler than Atlanta, but no such luck!!

On the plus side, I did get up and run this morning!

Yard Work

So, instead of a workout this weekend, I did yardwork for about 2 hours each day. On Saturday morning James played in a golf tournament. He left early and I couldn't go back to sleep, so I pulled out the plants (nasty vines) that the landscapers put in our front window area. I am hoping I got them all, it was tough though because the vines were everywhere. I am going to replace them with hostas.

On Sunday, James wanted to work on the grass. We have Fescue (spelling??) and it looks horrible. We also had a bunch of crabgrass everywhere, so we spent about 2 hours pulling those. Then James edged and mowed. Hopefully now the neighbors won't be talking about us, :)
Next year we are going to rip out what we have and put in Bermuda. It does better in the heat and drought.

Otherwise, yesterday was pretty uneventful.

Hootie Recap

The Hootie concert was great!! He did a lot of his own songs and even some covers. We had a great time!! I can't believe they (Hootie and the Blowfish) have been together for 22 years....

Friday, August 1

Hootie

We're going to see Hootie and the Blowfish tonight at Chastain!! Should be a great time. There are 9 couples going from the neighborhood!
I'm still trying to decide what to wear...its going to be 90+ here today. Any suggestions?
Have a great Friday and I'll let you know how the concert is!
