Lovin' some basketball - Update

After the games last weekend it looks like I lost our little Spousal Bracket Tournament.

But on the bright side....

Picture - 14 weeks

Wow - 14 weeks.  I can't believe.  JW is definitely getting bigger, but you can't tell in this photo.  The angle and bib make him look small still!  Yes, his eyes are big, but usually not this big.  This is the "oh no" expression that results from using the flash on the iphone.  At least he doesn't have the scary red eyes that I normally get!

We went on vacation Saturday

Not a real vacation, but a staycation to our friends' house.  Saturday mornings in the Spring and Fall are Men's Doubles tennis time here at the Halfway House.  Although it was supposed to rain, the guys went to the match and at least started.  After James left, I got a call from our friend inviting me and JW for breakfast.  Needing some "girl" time (as much as it could be considered girl time since there were 3 boys under 5!!), I said sure.  I packed the diaper bag and grabbed a groggy JW (he slept like a champ this weekend.  He did wake up once we got there and was happy for about 15 minutes before wanting to eat.)  Once the rain started the guys headed home.  After awhile we were ordering a late lunch and next thing we know its almost 11:00 PM....I mentioned to my friend it felt like vacation.  We were hanging out in our comfies watching TV, playing cards and catching up.  So unexpected, but so fun!!

Lovin' some basketball

James and I have an annual "friendly" bracket contest.  I think we've pretty much split the years.  After last nights downing of Duke, I think I'm in a pretty good position to win this year. 

Its an interesting bracket for me this year....All 3 teams I would pull for are in the same region.  (Ohio State, UK and UNC).  My family is a big supporter of OSU, I went to UK and James went to UNC).  Well tonight my Wildcats play the Buckeyes.  And tonight I will be wearing KENTUCKY BLUE!!  (But being the competitive person I am I actually have OSU winning the game.)

Newborn month

JW your first month was full of ups and downs.  Your entry into this world was a little scary, but the doctors and nurses took good care of you and had you home in just a week.  You slept in the room with us until just after your 1 month birthday, even though Mommy said all along you would spend your first nights in your crib.  Mommy didn't realize you'd be in the hospital for a week and after she'd want you close to make sure you were breathing okay.  You did amazing well with the transition and sleep well in the Halo swaddle/sleep sack.

We were lucky to have lots of visitors and help for your first 2 weeks.  Mommy and Daddy even got to sneak out for a bit on Daddy's birthday.  Atlanta had a crazy week of snow and basically shut down.  We spent a lot of time inside snuggling.  We tried our best this month to keep you warm, safe and healthy!

All snug in your swaddle.  We definitely have to swaddle you to get you to sleep.  Overall you're a pretty good sleeper - think you might have gotten that from Mommy!

You always have your hands up!  Even in the womb.  You really enjoy laying on your back!

We started floor time at the end of the month.  You seem to enjoy it!

Date night

I'm scrambling trying to get JW and myself ready so I can leave him with Aunt B.  Daddy and I are having a date night!  James earned tickets to a Stags Leap Wine Dinner...should be fun.

This is our second date night....the first was to Aria in Buckhead....Amazing food.  Probably the best food we've had in Atlanta.  We had a great time and it was definitely relaxing.  The picture below is of the light fixture in the restaurant....I thought it was quite interesting....you??

St Paddy's Day

JW wishes you all a very happy St Patrick's day!  Hope you are wearing your green (and blue - UK fans).  Enjoy a Guinness or Shepherd's Pie!!  I'll be going the Guinness route tonight!

Today

Today JW is 12 weeks old. And I am spending the day doing what I wish I had done for most of my maternity leave. We're snuggling and catching up on old TV shows.

I was going to do a post today on the emotions of today and the fact that I've cried a few time. But instead I'm going to keep smiling and talking to this cute face because when he smiles back at me my heart melts. And today that is all I need. Tomorrow is another day, one that I will likely post about soon.

JW has been a little needy today - maybe he is in a growth spurt or he is not feeling well - so he's taking an afternoon nap on me. Yes I am still in pjs. But I have done dishes, gone through old files, folded laundry, and vacuumed and dusted our bedroom.

Time

Keeps slipping away from me....

So I was making coffee and baking 2 break and bake cookies* preparing to sit down and write an update post. I was excited because little one was sleeping soundly in the pack n play and I thought I was going to get 30 minutes or so to myself. Unfortunately I got most of the way through dishes (while the coffee was brewing and the cookies baking)and then little one woke with a start. He seems a bit needy, so we're snuggled on the couch and I am writing on my iPhone which isn't the easiest. We did get out for a walk the past two days which has been great. Tonight is date night and the first time we've left him for longer than an hour or so. Hoping to be able to relax a bit and enjoy a nice dinner.
I still have much I want to write. And hopefully will get to do that soon. Until then I will keep posting pictures Of little man.. He is pretty stinkin cute!!!!!

*I am not a fan of break an bake cookies, but they will do in a pinch. There isn't time to make from scratch.... Hopefully again soon!
