GO BUCKEYES

The Buckeyes just beat Michigan for the 5th year in a row!! Way to go Tressel and Team...they played pretty well, seniors got to play, it was fantastic!!

We met 2 other couples at a bar here in ATL...it was like we were in Columbus. They played the fight song, all the other OSU tailored songs, banners everywhere and everyone in Scarlet and Gray. It was so fun. Definitely going to go to more games there!!

O-H-I-O!!

$26

That's right, I just filled up my tank with PREMIUM gas for only $26....

And right after that I passed on Diet Coke because $4+ for a 12 pack was WAY too much for me.

Birthday - Follow Up

I think I confused everyone... My birthday was actually Oct 12, but in the mess of October, I forgot to post something about it.

Happy Birthday to all the November babies!

Game night

Last night we had game night at our house. Two other couples came over. We ordered pizza and played Scene It, Bolderdash, and Texas Hold 'em....Plenty of adult beverages and trash talking going on. It was a great fun!!

BUSY WORK

Man, work has been crazy busy this week. And now I am exhausted (still have a couple work things to complete). Those of you who know me IRL might say that this is what I wanted, so I shouldn't complain. Not necessarily complaining, but yikes...BUSY!!

Wednesday, November 12

BRRR....

Its getting colder outside. We've been trying to hold off on the heat, but it feels cooler in the house than outside...think the turning on the heat and leaving it on is the way to go.

Birthday

I celebrated my birthday while our friends H&D were in town. I had a bit too much fun the night before, so it was a struggle. I did however fix dinner for everyone. The picture is of me with my DQ cake...they are the best!!! Yes, I even used cloth napkins. I had intended to use my china (still in a box) but was not up to washing it.

Scribbler Award

I was amazed that E over at Some Like it Hot thought I deserved the scribbler award even after my crazy month of little blogging! Thanks E!

The Rules to this award is you have to name five other Superior Scribblers. You have to link to the author and the name of the blog that gave you the award. You must display the award, and link here, which explains the award. At the bottom of that link, add your name to Mr. Linky's list.
My Five:
1 - Dawn
Have fun!

To Hem or Not to Hem....

...that is the question.

I bought these cords from JCrew about a month ago. The length is perfect for heels, but am not sure what color/style look best. I could get them hemmed and wear with flats?? The catalog usually shows them with heels...but I work from home, so don't need anything that dressy. Thoughts? How do you all wear your cords?

Happy Friday!

Finally its Friday. This week seems like it has been so long. I really think this time change has had an impact on everyone. I've been exhausted by 6PM each day and ready for bed at 8.....hopefully we'll get used to it soon and can go back to normal...though normal for me is bed by 10....

Have a great Friday!!

New Orleans

While our friends were visiting from Brussels, we decided to take a road trip to New Orleans. We left on Tuesday at lunch and returned on Thursday around dinner time. James got pulled over in downtown ATL and somehow got out of the ticket. We arrived in New Orleans at our B&B around 7:30PM. After checking in, we went to grab a bite to eat and ended up at Pat O'Brien's. The food wasn't that great, but we did enjoy the Hurricanes. Making sure we got all of the standard NO fare in on our trip, we went to Cafe du Monde after dinner for coffee and beignets. Wednesday we walked around the city and then took a tour of the Garden District, including the cemetary. We had dinner at Nola (one of Emeril's restaurants). I was impressed with my meal, the buttermilk fried chicken and mashed sweet potatoes...YUM!! (Before dinner we were accosted/tricked by a drunk native and ended up having to buy him a drink.....) Thursday morning (H's Bday) we had brunch at the Court of Two Sisters. Great brunch and live music. Afterwards we walked around the park and headed home. All in all it was a good trip. I don't think I have to go back anytime soon. No disrespect to the residents, there are just a bunch of other cities I would like to see before repeating my visit. And if I do make it back, Bourbon St will NOT be on my list. (I tried to put the pictures in the order of the trip, but blogger is not that friendly and it was too much work)

cemetary in Garden District all of us in Jackson Square

James and me at Court of Two Sisters (notice the musician in the background)

more cemetary shots - it was really cool to walk around in the cemetary and see all the names

cemetary - there a couple non profit groups working to restore the cemetary

house in the Garden District (forget who it belonged to)- there were definitely some beautiful homes

Bourbon St (yuck)

another home in the Garden District - notice the blue ceiling on the porch, they were painted that way to keep the wasps from nesting

Saint Louis Cathedral

H&D at Pat O'Brien's
J&J at Pat O'Brien's
H&D at Cafe Du Monde

French Quarter

Alleyway in the French Quarter - there were some neat doorways and alleyways

Asheville Wedding

James and I attended the wedding of one of his college friends in Asheville during our crazy October. It was a beautiful wedding and getting to see everyone was wonderful!! We had a great time! (maybe too great, but that's okay)

Giving of the Bride

Somehow hubby and I got separated, so here he is trying to be cute and snap a pic over his shoulder. I wore the BR black dress that I got for the PR event back in August.

Mr. and Mrs.

View from the reception, it was BEAUTIFUL!

Karrie - if you are reading, send me your email!! I hope you had a wonderful honeymoon!

I VOTED

I won't say for who because I don't want to go political on here, but I voted.

And I didn't have to wait in line at all!!

EDIT:

James and I went to CFA tonight for dinner...$1.77 for fries and $0 for 2 Chicken Sandwiches!!

Like J Crew?

Check out FFM's outfit creations. She does a great job.

Now, if I just had the budget for some of them!! ;)

Yikes, 1-6, 2-6

So we lost our match last night. We played fairly well, but still have to get used to playing with each other. Maybe we should have started at the lowest level.......another match on Thursday!

Tennis Update

Mixed Doubles Season:
Is officially over for us. We did make it to the playoffs!! We played on our way to the wedding in Asheville. We lost in a tie breaker for the first set and didn't really have time to play 3 sets. So, we lost the second set 6-1. We had a fun season (for the most part) and might even play together again.

Womens Doubles Season:
Begins with our match tonight...should be intersting. We are both competitive and didn't want to go in at the lowest level...I am starting to think we probably should have done that. But oh well, if we lose miserably I guess we can drop a level for next season!

Now I just need to get a couple jackets to keep me warm as the weather cools down!! (I did get a gift certificate to Dick's for my birthday so maybe I will find something in there.)

Sunday, November 2

Weekend

Its been a wonderful weekend. Friday evening James and I passed out candy...went through 3 bags, but was happy not to have any left to tempt us. Yesterday we spent the morning watching TV - getting caught up on the last season of How I Met Your Mother - great show!! We also watched some Prison Break on DVR...another great show. Too many good shows on TV, I always have to worry about my DVR getting full, wish we could burn it to DVDs. Then we headed to the FSU v. Ga Tech game. What a great game!! Ga Tech won by 3...first time in 16 years (I think). Afterwards we headed to the Vortex for burgers. All in all a great day!

I just finished baking 2 Chocolate Chip Pecan Pies (Derby Pies) for the Cake Walk at the Fall Festival in our neighborhood. We are heading to church, then to meet James' friend for lunch. When we get home we're going to play tennis (I am starting a women's doubles league tomorrow, so we need to practice) and then have dinner and games with some of our friends.

Overall - A GREAT WEEKEND! I am really happy to be back home without the worry of packing again in a couple days. I promise to post some of the pictures and commentary from our New Orleans trip and the wedding last weekend soon!

Hope you're having a great one!
