Really People??? I really enjoy my subscription - Its my guilty pleasure - I love looking at the pictures and read the magazine cover to cover.....But if 1 more cover is dedicated to either Jon or Kate...I may just have to give you up....

Great Recipes and Stories

Head on over to A Place to Dwell

She just had a great cookbook giveaway (sorry, its over and I didn't win). But she is posting family recipes and stories. Great recipes over there, including a couple from me (I just sent them to her, so it may be a minute).

ENJOY!

DG OTS

The picture above is with the anchor in front of EO. Below is the stain glass window in the stairwell at EO. (Sorry for the confusing pics, but blogger and my MAC are not getting along today.)

This is Nikki - She's my Big Sis and a Great Friend!

I am sure I have mentioned on here that I am a Delta Gamma. Not sure I mentioned that I am still active in serving the Fraternity. I recently became a RCS - regional chapter advisor of sorts - I have 6 schools.

Anyway, during my busy, busy June/July, I made a trip to Columbus, OH for a couple days of training. Very fun time meeting new and seeing old DG friends. Above are some pictures.
Thanks blogger for not letting me move them around.

to tie you over....

(UPDATE: This is my nephew - James's sister's son....)

Forgot to Mention - New MAC

I forgot to tell you all about the wonderful thing my husband bought me this month....

YEP A NEW MAC! (isn't he sweet!?!?)

I have been using it for about 3 weeks now and am still getting used to it. But it is 1000Xs better than the Dell I was using. It may take awhile to get totally used to it though since my work computer is a PC (Dell - its sucks too). I have Office for Mac, so I just need to learn the shortcuts and other things I got used to on the PC.

But I am so happy to be done with my Dell...seriously, it would just shut down on me, or lock up, it was really not very useful. I told the guy at the Apple Store I was going to throw it out the window....he said if I was serious to let him know because he wanted a picture...I'm still thinking about it...it doesn't have much memory, is slow and I am not sure if anyone would find any value in it...so I'm still on the fence on that idea.

If you all have any MAC tips, let me know....hopefully I'll get some pictures on here soon so I can make these posts more interesting - as I promised;)

Playoffs

After a touch and go T2 season, Romi and I made it to playoffs by the skin of our teeth. We won our match last night 7-6, 6-4 - we were up 5-2 and did all we could to just keep playing. I really enjoyed the black beetles that were falling all around me on my serve. But, we made it and will be playing another match. I will try to remain confident, but do not have high hopes...we are kind of in the middle layer of teams at this level...we have a bit to go to get to the upper layer. We figured we would play this level for at least 2 seasons!

Just a shout out to us!! Go Team!

funny story

(weekend recap and pictures coming, but something funny happened on our trip and I knew I had to blog about it)

We were driving up 75 towards Chattanooga. I noticed a long trailer, once we got up to it I noticed it was full of cows, the mooing kind. I made a comment, something like, "that's a lot of cows." Well, about 100 yards up is another trailer apparently full of cows as well. As we approach this trailer, there is a liquid flying from the side. Upon closer review....there was a cow's butt pressed up against one of the holes and it was peeing....yes folks, that stream of liquid coming from the truck was cow urine...disgusting I know, but also kind of funny. James did his best to stay clear, but we definitely got a little chuckle out of it!

Pictures

I noticed my blog has been slacking on the pictures lately...so I promise to take a bunch this weekend....I know the 11 followers I have would love to see the pictures from Noah's birthday party and our relaxing time on the houseboat!

(Eventually you will see pictures from the Bahamas trip...trying to get pics from Mom and Emily!)

What's a girl to do

when she has no milk for coffee?

Add a bit of hot chocolate mix and create a pseudo mocha...

Not a bad substitute.

Heaven forbid we go without coffee in the morning

Weekend Recap

We had a nice weekend. Friday night, we did not play tennis. Instead we hung out with R&P and played cards. Fun night, that went a bit too long ;)
Saturday James played tennis, I ran errands and organized, and then we cooked dinner and watched The Guardian (Kevin Costner, Ashton Kutcher in the Coast Guard). Good movie, a bit depressing though.
Sunday was Church, Bday party, naps and dinner with friends.

The best thing about the weekend (other than spending it with the husband and friends) was that I FINALLY took my china out of the boxes. Yes, we got married 2+ years ago and I am just now properly putting the china away. I know, but with living in Europe and moving, etc, I just didn't do it. So finally it is in a cabinet and easily accessible when I want to use it....Now I just have to find a reason to use it ;)

I am going to start trying to organize a closet/room a week. This past weekend it was the pantry and kitchen....going to move on to the guest bedroom and closet. See if I can get somewhere on that...who knows, may have some ebay or craigslist listings up soon!

This weekend we are off to celebrate the Nephew's 1st Birthday! Should be fun!

Happy Friday!

We're playing tennis tonight with 3 other couples ... should be fun.
Tomorrow I am hoping to get some house work done, its a mess. Its amazing the mess 2 people and a dog can make (really its just the kitchen and then dog hair everywhere, but still feels like a disaster). Hopefully tomorrow night James and I can have a date night...its been a busy week for him and I'm missing our quiet time. Sunday is church and a birthday party for our little friend Shea. (His momma is in the picture below)

Have a wonderful weekend!!!

Social Networking

What has the world come to...or more specifically...what is Social Networking doing to the world...

One of my BFs celebrated her 30th birthday this week...guess how I wished her a happy birthday...via Facebook (I did send a card in the mail). You got it, I did not pick up the phone and give her a call or even send a personal email. I wished her HB on Facebook....Really people...this is not me. This girl (woman) is one of the best friends a girl can have. We have shared so many things in our 13 years of friendship. Bad boyfriends, jobs, college, good boyfriends, getting Masters while working, weddings, puppies....you got the picture right...we've shared A LOT!

So this got me thinking about the whole social networking thing....while its nice, nothing takes the place of a phone call and hearing someone's voice on the other line or a card in the mail. I find myself communicating with people via facebook or email and not picking up the phone as often anymore. In fact, my attention span on a phone call has gotten progressively shorter. And I don't feel good about it. This is part of the reason I do not have a twitter account....plus I don't have a blackberry or a fancy phone that will let me on the internet anywhere I am...If I have something to say, its going to be here or on facebook.

So, what are we (I mean - what am I) going to do about this? I think I will try each week to call 1 special person (in addition to family members) just to say hi. Maybe that will bring back my ability to reach out and talk to those people who mean a lot to me and remind them of that. Sometimes facebook and email just aren't enough. What do you all think???

** Oh another wonderful bad use of social networking....I found out my friend was engaged via a Facebook update by her brother...yes, that's what the world has come to.

Its HOT!!!

Happy Monday and back to school day here in Atlanta.

Weekend Recap

What a wonderful weekend!!!  It was relaxing and refreshing!

Friday night we stayed in.  We cooked dinner (greek turkey burgers and sweet potato fries - YUM!) and watch a movie (The Reader...interesting movie.  Pretty good.)  Saturday James was gone until about 2, so I ran, watched some tennis and spent a couple hours at the pool.  It was wonderful...there were hardly any people at the pool.  It was relaxing and I got to read some of my book.  (I'm reading I  Know This Much is True by Wally Lamb).  Saturday evening we had a date night.  We went to Buckhead Pizza - there is one at The Avenues in Forsyth.  Yummy!!!
Sunday we went up north to Montaluce for Brunch with our friends and their parents.  Spent the day walking around there.  Lovely grounds.  Food was good, and their first wines are available - white only, they are pretty good.

Overall - A wonderful weekend spent with the Husband and good friends!

You'll never believe what i did

I must have been out of it last week.  I LOVE, I mean L-O-V-E, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.  Well, I have been suggesting (nagging) the husband that he needed new jeans.  So I decided to order him some and even added a pair for me, because you know, shipping is free over $200......Well when I placed the order, I used the correct bill to address, but used an old ship to address....Fast Forward to last Monday and I get the shipment notification for my jeans....on Tuesday I was SO excited that they were going to arrive, and when the didn't (I even tried to wait around before going to the gym, because I KNOW when the UPS guy is in the neighborhood.)  Well they never showed up, so I checked the order online...Yep, silly me sent them to our house in Kentucky...the one that has renters in it.  So, after a few minutes online chatting with customer service and a scattered voicemail to the tenant, we should have everything solved.  Nordstrom is sending a new UPS label to the other address and our tenant can just slap that on the box and then my wonderful jeans will be heading my way.....Those Joe's sure will be well travelled even before I get them!!!
