MIA

So, I've been MIA - just too much to do. I am reading blogs and periodically commenting, but you probably won't find much here for awhile.

Mon - Tues I was downtown all day for a seminar. Back to the house working. This Fri/Sat is the Community Yard Sale, and I'm chairing...lots to do. Then to get the house ready for Derby Party next Saturday...so until then....enjoy the sunshine.

New Fab Find

Loving this cardigan right now! I got a pewter one last week and I love it!! Its perfect for me. I work at home and am in the air conditioning most of the day. I get cold, so this is a perfect cover up over my tanks and tees...Love it!! And it was only $29.99...and I had a gift card from Christmas..love it!! (The cardigan is at JCREW. Its $39.99 online. Can't wait for the additional % off in store - let me know if you find out they are having the additional % off in stores)

(this was my first trip to the mall since early January...I have been a good little non shopper...hopefully things will get better soon and I will get to splurge a little more!)

Help! Facebook Dilemma

I need your help...I have a dilemma related to Facebook. I have befriended several of my co-workers because we are friends in real life. Now, however, I have other co-workers asking to be friends. Part of me says yes, part of me says no, I don't want you to see personal pictures of me, hear personal comments, see things my friends outside of work are posting on my profile...Have any of you had this issue? And how did you deal with it?

Thanks for your help....

Totally Acceptable

So, is it acceptable to enjoy your own happy hour while hubby is at a networking happy hour?!?!?! Sitting here reading blogs and enjoying some chardonnay (yes, its almost summer and i have started to enjoy it over my red wine.) Totally acceptable, right? And maybe I'm on my second glass....thoughts?

YUCKY

such a yucky start to the week. The storms were crazy yesterday. We lost power for about an hour and a half. So, since I couldn't work (internet and phones need power) I watched the trees across the street sway in the wind, hoping they didn't fall on our house. It got close a couple times. Hope everyone in ATL had a safe day and did not experience any wind damage.

Easter Weekend

Easter weekend was a busy one here at the Halfway House. After getting caught up on sleep on Friday, I went running errands. Unfortunately the things I went out for, I did not come home with. I was going to make a rose wreath for the Derby Party...um, fake flowers are EXPENSIVE...so I have not bought anything to make the rose wreaths, still contimplating the expense. (Don't worry I will have real red roses throughout the house.) Friday at 3 I hate a big bowl of pasta. I did pretty well with fasting. I started getting pretty hungry around 2 and that's when the caffeine headache set in. So I had a big cup of coffee with my pasta...interesting combo, I know. But a girls' gotta do what a girls' gotta do.

Saturday after James' tennis match, we got busy on our yard. And when I say got busy on the yard, I mean working from 2 - 8 PM. And the bad thing, we only got half of it done, half of the front yard that is....so Sunday after Church and brunch (with James' step cousin and his wife - long story) we were back at it. We worked for another 4 hours and finished the other side of the front yard. It looks amazing (will post pictures soon, waiting on a couple plants to bloom a bit more). So this weekend we will be working on the back yard. All to get this house looking spectacular for the Derby Party.

Easter Sunday was relaxing. Church was nice. It was great to have brunch with relatives, even if they were not immediate relatives. We talked to MIL, SIL, BIL, and my parents. Not the same as sharing the holiday together. Last year we hosted FIL and SMIL, so maybe we will have to go back to hosting.

All in all, good weekend.

Happy Good Friday

I'm posting from the comforts of my bed....I actually got to sleep in and have a relaxing morning. That hasn't happened in awhile. I think I will pull myself together and run a couple errands. Anything to get my mind off not eating until 3PM..

Its storming here, so I think we're probably not having practice...which is kind of nice. I was looking forward to a week and a half off. Last weekend was kind of a burn out....Hopefully I'll be enjoying it next weekend.

Off to TJMaxx to see what hats they have...we're having a Derby Party and I need to find a good hat. Also, I am going to make 2 rose wreaths for the front door. (I'll post pics when I am done). This is the 2nd annual party, so i figure it makes more sense to make wreaths with fake flowers!

Shew, 3 weeks, 1 day til Derby and I better get busy!!

Mom & Dad Visit

My parents were here visiting last weekend. It was a wonderful visit. They brought their Wii and Hubby and I are now addicted...we're thinking it would make a good anniversary gift to ourselves (though hubby is pretty competitive and I might lose him to the game). Unfortunately we drug my parents to many tennis matches (sorry Mom&Dad) and no wins. James didn't win either match on Saturday (rain make up and the scheduled match). Romi and I played this weeks match last Saturday. We went 3 sets, played for over 2 hours, and still didn't pull out a win. Sunday Mom watched my match which ended early when my partner rolled her ankle...it made a nasty, loud pop, and she is now on crutches. Sunday, James took Dad to Beer Festival in Athens. I think they had a pretty good time and even pulled a late April Fools joke on Mom and me. They had us convinced Dad was running around without his shirt on...long story, but it wasn't true..Shew, thanks Dad!!!

(Saturday, we open the Halfway House to my aunt, cousin and her friend. They stopped on the way to Tybee Island. We had a house full, but I think everyone had a good time and we're glad they stopped to visit.)

All in all it was a great visit and I was sorry to see them leave! We'll have to plan a trip up to X-town soon!!
