YUCKY

such a yucky start to the week. The storms were crazy yesterday. We lost power for about an hour and a half. So, since I couldn't work (internet and phones need power) I watched the trees across the street sway in the wind, hoping they didn't fall on our house. It got close a couple times. Hope everyone in ATL had a safe day and did not experience any wind damage.

Easter Weekend

Easter weekend was a busy one here at the Halfway House. After getting caught up on sleep on Friday, I went running errands. Unfortunately the things I went out for, I did not come home with. I was going to make a rose wreath for the Derby Party...um, fake flowers are EXPENSIVE...so I have not bought anything to make the rose wreaths, still contimplating the expense. (Don't worry I will have real red roses throughout the house.) Friday at 3 I hate a big bowl of pasta. I did pretty well with fasting. I started getting pretty hungry around 2 and that's when the caffeine headache set in. So I had a big cup of coffee with my pasta...interesting combo, I know. But a girls' gotta do what a girls' gotta do.

Saturday after James' tennis match, we got busy on our yard. And when I say got busy on the yard, I mean working from 2 - 8 PM. And the bad thing, we only got half of it done, half of the front yard that is....so Sunday after Church and brunch (with James' step cousin and his wife - long story) we were back at it. We worked for another 4 hours and finished the other side of the front yard. It looks amazing (will post pictures soon, waiting on a couple plants to bloom a bit more). So this weekend we will be working on the back yard. All to get this house looking spectacular for the Derby Party.

Easter Sunday was relaxing. Church was nice. It was great to have brunch with relatives, even if they were not immediate relatives. We talked to MIL, SIL, BIL, and my parents. Not the same as sharing the holiday together. Last year we hosted FIL and SMIL, so maybe we will have to go back to hosting.

All in all, good weekend.

Happy Good Friday

I'm posting from the comforts of my bed....I actually got to sleep in and have a relaxing morning. That hasn't happened in awhile. I think I will pull myself together and run a couple errands. Anything to get my mind off not eating until 3PM..

Its storming here, so I think we're probably not having practice...which is kind of nice. I was looking forward to a week and a half off. Last weekend was kind of a burn out....Hopefully I'll be enjoying it next weekend.

Off to TJMaxx to see what hats they have...we're having a Derby Party and I need to find a good hat. Also, I am going to make 2 rose wreaths for the front door. (I'll post pics when I am done). This is the 2nd annual party, so i figure it makes more sense to make wreaths with fake flowers!

Shew, 3 weeks, 1 day til Derby and I better get busy!!

Mom & Dad Visit

My parents were here visiting last weekend. It was a wonderful visit. They brought their Wii and Hubby and I are now addicted...we're thinking it would make a good anniversary gift to ourselves (though hubby is pretty competitive and I might lose him to the game). Unfortunately we drug my parents to many tennis matches (sorry Mom&Dad) and no wins. James didn't win either match on Saturday (rain make up and the scheduled match). Romi and I played this weeks match last Saturday. We went 3 sets, played for over 2 hours, and still didn't pull out a win. Sunday Mom watched my match which ended early when my partner rolled her ankle...it made a nasty, loud pop, and she is now on crutches. Sunday, James took Dad to Beer Festival in Athens. I think they had a pretty good time and even pulled a late April Fools joke on Mom and me. They had us convinced Dad was running around without his shirt on...long story, but it wasn't true..Shew, thanks Dad!!!

(Saturday, we open the Halfway House to my aunt, cousin and her friend. They stopped on the way to Tybee Island. We had a house full, but I think everyone had a good time and we're glad they stopped to visit.)

All in all it was a great visit and I was sorry to see them leave! We'll have to plan a trip up to X-town soon!!

Happy Friday...

...or at least it feels like it since tomorrow is a holiday.

I am happy to report the weather is cooperating and it seems to be a spring day, sunny in the 60s. Now, let's just hope that holds out for the weekend.

I am looking forward to the holiday tomorrow. I am going to sleep in, clean house, run errands and hopefully workout. Hubby informed me we will be fasting tomorrow - so from midnight tonight until 3PM tomorrow, water is it. Maybe that sleeping in thing will help ;

Have a wonderful Easter. We are going to a brunch after church.

Um, really

Its April....and it was just snowing here in ATL...I tried to take a picture for you all, but the little white pebbles on my porch did not show up...Seriously, what happened to the sunny weather we had this weekend...oh wait, it'll be back by the end of the week...CRAZY!!!

Bracketology

Well Girls, I let you down. The boys ended up beating me in our bracket pool. When we calculated the points, I missed a couple too many in the later rounds. But I did get 1 thing right........

We're Back

We're back from our quick trip to FL to visit Nani and Papa. It was a very relaxing visit. I worked (some, but not too much), relaxed by the pool, read a book, slept in, ate good food, and got to visit with Jenn (she was on SB in Naples). All in all a great vacation ... but now back to reality.

My parents are visiting this weekend, leaving from OH around 5. That puts them in ATL around 1:00 AM...I'll be taking a nap until they get here and hoping to get some sleep after. I have quite a bit to get done around this house to clean (though the guest bedrooms and bathrooms are clean!). My work to do list is pretty long too - wish me luck getting everything done today (plus my monthly visitor arrived this morning in all its glory - sore back, headache, etc). And hopefully a workout...I ran yesterday....after our "mini vacay" I am definitely needing workouts!!

My aunt and cousin are stopping through on Saturday afternoon on their way to Tybee. They'll stay Saturday evening (see we are truly becoming a Halfway House!!) So we'll have a house full. On top of that I have tennis practice and 2 matches (making up next Sunday's match - ALTA doesn't observe Easter) and James has 1 match. At least 2 of the 3 matches are at home.

Sunday, James is taking my dad to the Beer Festival in Athens...should be a great time for the boys!!

Shew, my head is spinning just thinking about it all...I will try to take pictures (we didn't take any in FL) and post next week!) Have a great weekend!! I know we will - Love it when family visits!!!
