Since I'm a little behind on this one it will be in bullet format.
- Heartburn has officially set in. I spoke with the midwife who said I could take zantac twice a day as a preventive measure. I can definitely tell when I forget to take it. I also asked the doctor for a prescription to see if I could at least get the cost to go against the deductible. (I got the Rx in this past week, I think it is more expensive that getting the Zantac over the counter, and they sent the generic...doesn't make much sense does it??)
- I got to hear the heartbeat 2 times in 2 weeks. The first time, the nurse said "awww" and I had to ask. She said that each time she heard the baby's heartbeat, it was right next to mine. She said "See, you're bonding already." This made me feel a bit better as I have been having a hard time feeling "connected" to baby.
- I started to gain a good amount of weight. I didn't really gain any in the 1st trimester. Looking back I think I was up around 9-10 lbs at this point. Definitely needing maternity pants/bottoms if they're not elastic.
- With the pending shower (at the time) James and I set out to get registered. We registered at BRU and Target. An interesting process to say the least. My patience wore thin a couple times. But registering made James think again about not finding out the sex....He got tired of all the neutral stuff - too much white and cream! So we put a few blue and pink things on there.
- We had a date night to celebrate 20 weeks. We hit Target for registering then grabbed dinner. While at dinner (this was before our u/s) I asked James if he secretly hoped the tech would slip up and tell us the sex...he said yes, kind of...I could tell he was still wavering a bit.
- no worries - we did not find out the sex at our ultrasound. Everything looks great, baby was measuring right on the 12/22 due date and looks great!! Yea! That was exciting to hear as you always worry (or at least I think we as mothers or mothers to be continue to worry). Now we're just hoping for a healthy baby in 18-20 weeks!
(I think this is an adequate description of what was going on in those weeks - Its hard to go back and remember!)

Ah, I know it's tempting to find out the sex, but hold on if you can! It's the most amazing moment when you hear if it's a boy or a girl. I'm so excited for you! Good luck with the heartburn - try to sit upright as much as you can after eating (I always wanted to lie down on the couch after dinner, but that's the worst thing for heartburn).
