JW is doing a great job eating. There really isn't much he doesn't like. Chicken nuggets, macaroni and cheese, grilled cheese, yogurt, and mandarin oranges are probably his favorites though. He loves eggs just like his grandma - with cheese and pepper!! He eats a fair amount of Cheerios as well. We just started those about a month ago when I decided the puffs were too expensive!! He does eat. Fruit and veggies as well. Carrots and peas are easy (I buy the cans of peas and carrots). He loves apple - though I really think he is just sucking the juice from it because we end up with pieces of apple all over the high chair tray. Peaches are good too. Going to try blueberries and other berries at next trip to the store. He ate a couple bites of my pizza this weekend and liked that as well. Unfortunately James and I eat dinner late (after he goes to bed) so he has his own meal around 4:30. I trying to feed him leftovers from our meals so that we aren't having to do anything special for him. He drinks pretty well from a sippy cup. My current dilemma is when to start whole milk. I only have about a week left of formula and I really don't want to buy anymore. But, we'll still be a week away from his birthday and 1 year doctor appointment. Any one feel strongly one way or another????
Any other food ideas?
Yesterday he ate some leftover black beans and I think he loved them. What do you think?

You can definitely go ahead and start whole milk. We were worried too about starting before we had Zach's 1 year checkup and our doctor said it was definitely okay. So we did the same with Mallory when she turned a year, our formual ran out about 2 weeks early and we went ahead and switched her to whole milk! Let us know how he likes it!
I would mix formula with whole milk (half and half) until you run out of formula and then switch to whole milk (and I'm just saying that so that you can use up his formula). It's really no problem to switch to whole milk now unless he's on a restricted formula or a high cal formula. If that's the case (which I'm almost 100% he's not), then I would wait until the pedi apt.
Spencer LOVES black beans too. They're definitely a favorite at our house. Right now he is pretty much refusing all meat which sucks. At least black beans provide some protein!!
With our first child, we waited until the one year mark, but with our second child, we went ahead and started him early on whole milk and he was fine. Believe me, when you can cut out the forumula, you feel like you've won the lottery. It's so expensive! Like the other reader said, though, maybe try half & half to get him used to it.
McKinley didn't eat much meat until he was about 3; the dr. said as long as he was eating beans, cheese, yogurt, etc. it was fine.
My doctor and lactation consultant both told me it was okay to start introducing whole milk at 9 months. F is still BF'ed but he does get an ounce or two of whole milk once a day or every other day. He's been fine with it!
